FAQ
1. What generators use the 6GA2491-1A?
• It is built for Siemens 1FC6 (frames 18–28) brushless synchronous generators, as well as compatible licensed variants (such as Hyundai, Uljanik, or Fenxi machines). (Note: Larger frame sizes 35–56 use the heavier-duty 6GA2492 model with an external power module and heatsink).
2. What do the main potentiometers (trimmers) do?
• VOLT (U): Adjusts the nominal output voltage of the generator.
• STAB (K / P-action): Controls system stability and eliminates voltage hunting or fluctuations.
• Adjustment tip: Turn the STAB trimmer fully counter-clockwise by one turn, then slowly turn clockwise until voltage oscillations stop. Do not set it too far clockwise, or the generator will respond too slowly to load changes.
• DROOP (S): Configures reactive load sharing when operating generators in parallel.
3. What should I check before replacing an old 6GA2491-1A?
• Always record or copy the exact positions of all potentiometers, dipswitches, and wire bridges from the old card before swapping it out.
• Do not alter the factory settings of the compounding transformer taps unless instructed by official documentation.
4. The generator output voltage is unstable or hunting. How do I fix it?
• Check and re-adjust the STAB potentiometer.
• Inspect external sensing wiring connections and ensure there are no loose terminals or intermittent contact on the 230/400Vac reference lines.
• Verify that the engine/prime mover speed (frequency: 50Hz / 60Hz) is stable, as speed droop or governor hunting causes voltage instability.
