Frequent Questions and Answers

1• What is the purpose of the 6SE7031-7HF84-1HH1 module?

It acts as a precharging board/module (PCU1) designed to limit inrush current during the power-up sequence of large AC drives in the SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES family (specifically for frame sizes E and F).

• Is this product still active or orderable directly from Siemens?

No. According to the Siemens SiePortal, the product is phased out and discontinued, with sales continuing only until existing stock runs out.

• What are the alternatives if my module fails?

• Spares & Refurbished Units: Sourced through industrial surplus and automation replacement suppliers (such as MRO Electric or Radwell).

• Repair Services: Many industrial electronics repair houses test and refurbish faulty PCU1 boards.

• System Retrofit: For long-term reliability, Siemens often recommends evaluating a migration/retrofit path to modern SINAMICS drive systems once older MASTERDRIVES hardware reaches end-of-life.
